June 2018 | Michael von Roeder, CEO Sensorberg
Who:
Sensorberg – a Proptech company which specialises in hardware and software for the digitalisation and automation of building is now integrating BlueID.
Location:
Berlin, Germany
Challenges:
In order to enable digitally controlled access, Sensorberg installed throughout the end customer‘s buildings a number of so-called “Access Hubs” – special intelligent contact and connection points that link the entrance and office doors to the Back-end System which comprises access management software and a database containing information about users, doors and access privileges. Since the types of office spaces and doors in office buildings and co-working spaces often differ greatly from one another, a variety of compatible lock cylinders and door handles were implemented. In fact, the kind of cylinder in particular, played a decisive role when developing the right solution for digital building management.
In addition to mechanical cylinders, Sensorberg expanded its product portfolio to include a range of possible applications including enabling of wireless and digital control of the wide range of lock cylinders. They were therefore looking for an efficient and flexible access control solution that would fit well with their high standards of security as well as user experience.
Solution:
The benefits brought by the digitization of the property enabled by the BlueID solution were numerous. As we joined forces in June 2018, CEO Michael von Roeder observed, “We are constantly working on further developing our hardware and software by means of system integration, amongst other things. In terms of digital authorization management, BlueID offers an extremely efficient solution with which we can once again increase the range of possible uses of our product. In doing so, it was paramount for us that BlueID’s security standards were just as high as ours. Their solution ensures that the mobile authentication of users is
completely encrypted end-to-end using the most secure PKI standard. Furthermore, the user doesn‘t have to be online to securely open doors. Should an internet connection be unavailable, access is also possible offline, both, via phone and via a special access card.”
BlueID CEO Philipp Spangenberg added, “Operators of co-working spaces in particular are currently working on scaling their businesses across many sites. A combination of our cloud-based access control and the services provided by Sensorberg is the ideal solution to equip new sites with local IT infrastructures using as little effort as possible and simultaneously having the highest possible security standards.”
Berlin-based co-working space providers St. Oberholz and Unicorn are the first customers for whom Sensorberg is using BlueID components.
Results:
// Time saved: 6 hours of Key Management saved per month
// Maintenance costs decreased: €200 saved for each lost key
produced and no need to change all the locks
// Flexibility & resources saved: 24/7 operation and check-in
without the need for a receptionist
// Space gain: no key vault needed
Why BlueID?
BlueID offers a simple and highly secure solution for the control and management of access and usage authorisation. With BlueID ACCESS®, property owners and operators of co-working spaces, for instance, can issue users and service providers – such as cleaning companies – extremely efficient access authorisation for buildings and individual rooms. Approved persons can authenticate themselves via their smartphone, which effectively becomes a digital key.
